Fire

The fire cleanses and it destroys like Lucifer slays.
Maybe hell and the devil are one of the same,
residing on
every holy candle lit. It dances at the back
of every mind and laughs as
it consumes you like God.

It is described in many ways -
entrancingly green, glowing red,
furiously blue and dark like
the knight.
It chills as it burns and
suffocates
as it breathes.

Do you hear it cackle?

Calmly,
it envelopes and hugs my neck,
kissing with a fervor I've not felt before;
raising my hairs then razing them down;
hissing at my tears, preying with my fears;
blazing souless innocents and begging me-
begging me to fall on my knees,
bow my heart and feign mercy.

Hush.

The sky falls bland as I lay my head.
So I pray that when the light rekindles my face,
the sun would wring
from the anger within,
hipnotic evil that shall live and rise again.

Shoe Defense

The total of bones from the head to the toes
is two hundred and six at twenty.
The place with the most number of those
is the feet, 26 on each.
They say bones give you structure, the hardest part of you,
they withstand the success ladder climb.
They hold you up when you’re happy or blue,
but even the strongest need protection sometimes.

Changes Everyday

One foot out and it's a new world.
The green of greens differ from recollections.
The air sandy, the ground humid, birds
sing hymns of rebirth.
The sun on your face pierces through you
again but never the same way.
The people hustle through the paths, the squirrels
nuts, lazy cat purrs.
Routines, but not constants today.

Dear Charlotte

Inspired by the birth of HRH Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

Dear Charlotte,

You are as breath-taking as a bloom in autumn;
your eyes glitter like the first dew of dawn. Now,
as you look upon the lands, hopefully you'll see
the innocence of men as pure as your smile.
Raise them up,
with all you can.
Take a knee always, if need be,
to lend a helping hand.

Care with all your heart, your flesh and time.
Be malleable, Charlotte. Be fierce, be kind.

This world will tell you how one should
speak and sit and suit and show.
Be flexible, little warrior,
but also be bold.
This world wants you marble –
pure and pristine on a pedestal.
Marble is stunning and marble is exquisite,
but marble is too tenuously breakable.

Petite fearless fighter,
do not be afraid to bend.
Go out and greet the world;
experience, and understand.
Bleed the blood of our soldiers,
cry the tears of our poor,
feel the suffering of our homeless,
and you’ll make us sunnier. I am sure.

Be love, dear Charlotte, for it is expansive and strong.
Spread it wide, my princess. May you breathe life, live long!

The Living Progression - breathe live reflect touch

(the living progression sound)
Dm mm, dm mm, dm mm, dm mm –
the sound of her love.
Dm mm, dm mm, dm mm, dm mm,
red flashes in her face.

Dm mm, dm mm, dm mm, dm mm –
the sound of his passion,
red flashes on his face.

Dm mm, dm mm, dm mm, dm mm,
red flashes in my face.
Dm mm, dm mm, dm mm, dm mm –
the sound of my thoughts.

Dm mm, dm mm, dm mm, dm mm,
red flashes on your face,
the sound of your cries.

Music Makers

I closed my eyes and I
soared through the clouds and the mist and the
light of the man-made sun.

Streams; streams flowing from my eyes
as my gut clenches on every note and every
pause.

Steams flowing from my mouth
as I channel them to the house; full of listeners.

I am a performer.

Streams; streams flowing from my heart
as I opened myself to the individual critics.
Feel me. Feel my music. Feel my soul.

Streams flowing down my forehead,
coursing through my arms as my family channeled me.
Channel me. Feel so I can feel. Feel so they can feel.

We are performers.

Our hearts thumping as we stole- first, their ears,
then, their minds, and finally, their whole selves.
Manipulate them like we are puppet masters.
Make them excited, make them fear, make them cry
and feed off their cheers.

We are nothing without them.
They are nothing without us.

We are whole together as a musician and song.
We are whole together as a singer and the choir.
We are whole together as performers and audience.

We are whole together as friends and family.

Burnt

You and I, both volatile.
What were we thinking?
Something. There must have been something
that drew us together like a moth towards the light.
You were mesmerizing,
as long as I didn't look into your eyes,
and I'm sure I was too.

It was ecstasy with you,
as long as I didn't care for anything you.
Like giant fires of passion,
we gravitated towards each other.
You and I, by leaps and bounds.
It was like we were one body.

But that's just it.
We were one body and just the body.
Nothing more but we needed nothing more.

We were so close. So close we clashed so
ever uncomfortably.
Burning each other. Scalding our souls.
That was for questioning more.

Scarred, we dare not venture to further premises again.
All burnt out now, the smoke so suffocating and dark.
There is no more light to guide our way.
I can hardly look at myself.

Drink Up!

Never been happier for color vision;
never been happier for coloring in a bowl
for it represents regaining life or the lack thereof.
And I've never been so glad for pain.

A day ago, sight was depressing
The moon mocked, the stars gossiped, the
bed disapproved, the table reminded, the food
stung, the drinks smug, the pen whispered,
the paper scorn, the people bled.
And I wept.

And I wept
because I needed fluids that sweat won’t cut.
I wept because of the act that I did, that I
consciously did, that was common and normal and
perfect in almost every other context than what I was in.

I need a drink.

My lips were cracking but I couldn’t care less.
My pair seemed to be fissuring as I was careless.
So hydrated before with his drink yet now so desiccated.
Thank god for water.

Yes, thank God.
I have no religion but I prayed.
Desperate? Yes.
The only things that got me through was his faith with me
and my faith in Him.
I pled for my ancestors to look over me and I saw no angels
with wings but I’m glad they did.

Of course, this could all be in my head.
But if anyone is up there, here is a toast.
Love you, thank you and let’s drink up!

Oh yes, make it red wine please.

Foreign

It's squirming in my tummy.
Revolting little brat!
I clobber it with fists of fury
to remove the regret.
The constant reminder of his face
resides deep inside.
It sickens me that his residue, his waste
is filling me tight.

What was I thinking?
My brain clearly on a break
and it took over with speed of lightning,
laughing at my sake.
A moment of carelessness, that
was it.
Our eyes, we met.
Church bells ring.
I punched it hard. Get out!
Get out!
The promises I vowed,
now doubt
but it’s all too late.
Its life; my life.
No time to wait.

I dive.

Like quicksand, it consumes me whole.
It screams in my ears; louder as it grows.
It clouds my head with unique frequencies.
Never such a phenomenon. What trickery is this?

If only I knew how to stop the love.

The escaped puppet and the entrapped rat

I stare into the window and saw you,
little lab rat. You were in a little cage,
eating your food with your little hands.
You had no concern for the rest of the world;
you probably have never seen the world.
Cherish your ignorance and you’d probably
be famous like I was. My strings gave me rope
burns as the audience cheered whenever I
bowed unwillingly. Now I am just a runaway
puppet, wishing to be controlled once again.
Do not cut off your strings ever.
Decisions are hard and independence is not
worth what you experience in the outside world.

I see you staring at me through the window
and I am envious. Your strings were cut
and you could roam free by yourself.
You could choose to do anything in the world;
you probably could do everything in the world.
Cherish your freedom and you’d probably
never be manipulated like me. I’m fed good
food as the scientists cheered whenever I
succeeded unknowingly. Now I am just a trapped
pet, wishing to be free once again.
Peel open that sunflower seed and reveal the grain.
Compliance is hard and dependence is not
worth what you endure in confinement.

Eating

Your spit coated my face
just the way I like it.
Closing my eyes, I savor every moment.
A smirk. “Darling, I know what you ate for breakfast.”
Our traditional snake dance.
Slobber. More slobber. I love it.
There’s no awkwardness between us,
only heat from friction between our breaths
and heat from the frictionless relationship we share.
“You take my breath away, Honey.”
Our cooperation is seamless-
you follow my lead and I… “Dearie, more tongue.”
I love the taste of your lip gloss.
Strawberry is the sexiest chemical ever made-
a genius’s work that keeps me going and going and going.
and your perfume, your pheromone, my addiction.

I open my eyes to capture this magical frame:
the old man with the disapproving eyes;
the married couple with their green eyes;
and the children whose eyes were prohibited from such a sight.
That’s right. You are going to be traumatized tonight
and the next day and the next. That’s right. It shall consume
you like how she consumes me whole.

Goodnight, my child.

One round, two.
Bubbles. Water.
Swimming.
One round, two.
My lovely three second brain.

Weird white creatures.
Big eyes that blink.
Tails that split.
Weird white creatures.
They experimented on me.

They took me out of water,
Measured my length,
Weighed my mass,
Without letting me catch my breath,
Until I could breathe in dry ‘water’.

They fed me GoodFoodAnd I turned purple.
They injected me with some fluid
And I returned back to normal
With an extra hand with toes.

They operated on me
And altered my neurons.
Global warming is currently an issue.
Everyone needs to do their part to make a change.
What am I doing in all these H2O?

When my parents went back home and the lights were off,
I stared at a blank wall as hard as I could with my lidless eyes
Counting out loud one two three, one two three, one two three,
One two three, one two three, one two three, one two three, one two three.
“Is my nightmare over?”

I'm cool

sometimes i feel you make me crazy,
clouding my mind, fogging, hazy.
you turn the corner, but my eyes follow you
then i turn away, just to seem cool.

you aint suppose to be here, at least not right now
for the wrong reasons, my heart always pounds.
im acting! to show you that im better off,
yet you dont pay any more attention than a child to a moth.

kazoom! away! you shall disappear!
i'll try spells, witchcraft, anything! to diminish this fear.
i want you gone, distant from me, somewhere far away
and i dont ever want to find you again any other day.

you're not important, i dont need you. go away from me
i am happy. im living well. oh, cant you see?
you turn the corner, but still my eyes follow you
then i turn away, just to make me seem cool.

Life

its all about keeping your hopes and dreams alive
through love and pain; laughter and cries
holding onto faiths when dealing with reality
making new friends, embracing love and family

dont know why im writing this poem
guess i was bored from reading top woman
the thought struck my head while i was lying on my bed
and thus i decided that i should create

to talk about life and all its misgivings
all the great things which education is missing
all the set backs which we have to take
all the hard decisions which we have to make

but to just say this is an understatement
dont you remember the great big agreement?
that for every sucky thing, there will be one awesome
for every delicious, there will be one grossome

so with obstacles, there will be friends
whose helping hands would be glad lend
and family who will be there always
supporting through night and encouraging through day

so there's nothing to fear when facing life
no need to retreat, be angry or sigh
so stand up straight and aim for mars
shine down the spotlight and you're a superstar

Remember; Forgotten

Remember the times we spent together,
Everything we once held dear.
Mischievous teasing one another.
Each thinking of nothing but the other.
Missing us and doing nothing
But grabbing onto
Everlasting
Remembrance.

Feeling the emptiness growing within
Oneself.
Recalling only the second before
Going
On
To the next phase of life.
To you,
Eternity's
Nothing.
